Geography: Afghanistan is a Asian, Middle Eastern Islamic
republic and the country is currently defined, according to the
Danish National Tax Board, as a developing country with borders to
Iran, China, Pakistan (the Durand Line), and borders to the
following states of the former Soviet Union, Tajikistan,
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Afghanistan is and has throughout history been a strategically
important geopolitical transport hub between Europe, Russia, the
Middle East and India's natural resources. Especially oil and
natural gas and the projected Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline is slated
to play an important role in the future.

"Map/Poster of the Earth's Dynamic Cryosphere," and a set of eight

Cryosphere and the Earth System. The next 10 chapters, B through K,
are arranged geographically and present glaciological information
from Landsat and other sources of historic and modern data on each
of the geographic areas. Chapter B covers Antarctica; Chapter C,
Greenland; Chapter D, Iceland; Chapter E, Continental Europe
(except for the European part of the former Soviet Union),
