Atlanterhavet / the Atlantic Ocean / l'océan Atlantique / el Océano Atlántico / der Atlantische Ozean

Geografi: Atlanterhavet er et ocean som adskiller kontinenterne Europa og Afrika fra Amerika.

Atlanterhavet forbindes med Det nordlige ishav ved Danmarksstrædet, Grønlandshavet, Norskehavet og Barentshavet. Gibraltarstrædet forbinder Atlanterhavet med Middelhavet. Atlanten grænser op til Det indiske ocean og Det sydlige ishav. Drake passagen, og Panamakanalen forbinder Atlanterhavet med Stillehavet.
Blandt havområder som grænser op til Atlanterhavet kan nævnes Guineabugten / Gulf of Guinea, Hudsonbugten, Den mexicanske golf, Det caribiske hav, Den engelske kanal samt de irske og keltiske have og Nordsøen.
Den midtatlantiske ryg er en kolossal undersøisk bjergkæde, der strækker sig fra Grønlandshavet i nord til Antarktis i syd.

Makaronesien

Makaronesien / Macaronesia eller Makaronesiens økoregion er navnet på fire vulkanske øgrupper i det nordlige subtropiske og tropiske Atlanterhav. Øgrupperne tilhører Portugal, Spanien og Kap Verde: Azorerne. De kanariske øer, Kap Verde, Madeira og Selvagensøerne.

Geography: The Atlantic is an ocean that separates the continents Europe and Africa from America.

The Atlantic Ocean are connected with the Arctic Oceans at the Denmark Strait, the Greenland Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea. The Straits of Gibraltar is binding the Atlantic Ocean with the Mediterranean. The Atlantic are bordering the Indian Ocean and the southern seas. The Drake Passage and the Panama Canal connects the the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean. Among marine waters bordering the the Atlantic Ocean can be mentioned the Hudson Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea, the English Channel and the Irish and Celtic seas and the North Sea.
The Mid-Atlantic Ridge is an immense underwater mountain range that stretches from the Greenland Sea in the north to Antarctica in the south.
