Historie:

Sverige starter i 1809 en krig mod Danmark og Rusland i håb om at generobre Finland og Ålandsøerne, men taber definitivt Finland til Rusland året efter. I Aalands-servitutten efter Krimkrigen i 1856 bestemmes det, at "de Aalandske Øer ikke må befæstes, og at militær- og marineinstallationer hverken må vedligeholdes eller nyopføres".
Efter at Finland blev selvstændig i 1917 forsøger Sverige igen at få herredømmet over Ålandsøerne, men ved en international konference om øernes neutralitet i 1921 enes man om en ny konvention af 20. oktober 1921, hvorefter Ålandsøerne hører til Finland.

Sweden starts in 1809 a war against Denmark and Russia hoping to recapture Finland and the Åland Islands, but lose definitely Finland to Russia the following year. In the Åland easement after the Crimean War in 1856 provides that "The Åland Islands may not be fortified and the military and naval installations must not be maintained or new built".
After Finland became independent in 1917 Sweden is trying again to regain control of the Åland Islands, but at an international conference on the islands neutrality in 1921 agreeing on a new Convention of 20 October 1921, after which the Åland Islands belongs to Finland.
