This Operational Selection Policy will focus on the period from
1967 (a major milestone in the Chevaline project) to the
publication of the Strategic Defence Review (SDR) in 1998. The SDR
announced the government's decision to reduce the number of
warheads carried by the Trident submarine to 48 warheads per boat
(half the ceiling announced by the previous Conservative
government).
