A 50,000-person rally April 26 in Washington calling for an end to nuclear power and nuclear weapons was followed two days later by a march of 1,500 from the Department of Energy to the Pentagon. After leaving the Department of Energy, the marchers split into five routes so they could converge simultaneously on the five sides of the Pentagon. About 600 demonstrators were arrested, including Grace Paley, Benjamin Spock, David McReynolds, and Dave Dellinger.
