493 Arrested at Nevada Nuclear Test Site
Hundreds of anti-nuclear protesters were arrested on misdemeanor
charges today as demonstrators clashed with guards at an annual
Easter demonstration against weapons testing at this remote desert
site. Numerous protesters and some members of the site security
force suffered cuts when an estimated 100 demonstrators rushed
across a cattle guard on a road leading to Mercury and temporarily
overwhelmed guards. "It got a little hairy this year," said a
spokesman for the Department of Energy, writes New York Times.
