NHS hospitals invest in arms trade

Dozens of health authorities and hospitals across Britain are major shareholders in Britain's arms industry, according to research by the pressure group Campaign Against the Arms Trade. Britain's second biggest weapons manufacturing company, General Electric Company, lists among its shareholders the British Heart Foundation (400000 shares) and St Bartholomew's Hospice in London, whose special trustees hold 200000 shares in General Electric Company worth about pounds sterling3 each. The trustees of St George's and St Thomas's Hospitals, London, have also invested in the company.
