...'It is an encouraging fact, that the members of this Society
have increased from 134 to 266 during the past year. We cannot but
consider this as a favourable indication of our duty to go forward,
patiently meeting the obstacles which may impede our progress ; and
earnestly soliciting the efficient co-operation of every friend of
humanity, in the great and noble design of banishing from the earth
a monster, whose steps are to be traced only by the destruction of
our brethren. Of the first annual Address delivered by Mr. Linsley,
which is connected with our first Report, there have been
distributed to the members of the Society, of the Legislature, and
others, gratuitously, 700 copies.
Of Mr. Brace's Address, 400 copies have been distributed. The
Society have loaned to the members for perusal, of the Friend of
Peace and other pamphlets, 298 copies.
They have now on hand for the same purpose 194 copies ; and eight
copies of the London publication, entitled the Herald of Peace.
Your Committee have made arrangements to receive this last
mentioned valuable pamphlet regularly from London, in
future.'...
