NNSA Laboratory Assessments Withheld Under Obama Rule

The agency that oversees the U.S. nuclear-weapon complex has adopted under the Obama administration a 36-month delay on disclosing yearly operational assessments of its hired companies, undermining a key means of independently examining oversight and spending at the nation's atomic arms laboratories, the Albuquerque Journal reported on Tuesday
The National Nuclear Security Administration "has determined that it is inappropriate to release the performance evaluation reports because the information could be used against the contractor in future procurements,” the rule states.

DOD Contracts for February 01, 2012
Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corp., San Francisco, Calif., is being awarded a $359,700,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-08-C-2103) for nuclear propulsion work at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. Work will be performed in Norwich, Conn. (84.9 percent); Monroeville, Pa. (12.5 percent); and Norfolk, Va. (2.6 percent). Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. No completion date or additional information is provided on Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program contracts. The Naval Sea Systems Command is the contracting activity.

Work will be performed in Monroeville, Pa. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. No completion date or additional information is provided on Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program contracts. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
