U.S.-based Peace Organization Prohibited from Holding Space
Conference in India
The Indian Government has forbidden the Global Network Against
Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space from holding its annual
international conference in India
On August 2, 2010, the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear
Power in Space announced that its upcoming annual international
space organizing conference has been blocked by the Indian
GovernmentÂ’s External Affairs Ministry. The peace
group, which has successfully organized similar events
internationally for the past 17 years, had been planning to meet in
Nagpur, India, from October 9-11.
Despite this stunning setback, the Global Network still plans to
stage local events and public education sessions in the U.S. and
throughout the world during its "Keep Space for Peace Week" which
will be held October 2-9.
