Military recruiting data and analysis for 2005 now
available
By: Pam Schwartz
Outreach Director, National Priorities Project
What's changed about military recruits in 2005? In its analysis
released today, the National Priorities Project answers that
question: low and middle-income neighborhoods became more
over-represented in Army recruiting. Wealthy neighborhoods became
more under-represented.
You can search by ZIP code, county, or state and find out where
recruits are coming from by going to the NPP Database at
http://database.nationalpriorities.org.
The research findings, complete with tables and charts, are at
http://nationalpriorities.org/militaryrecruiting05. Find out much
more about our recruits and recruiting such as:
Military recruiting costs $4 billion per year;
The Navy had the highest percentage of minorities in 2005; and
Arkansas, Texas and Wisconsin had the largest increases in Army
recruits per thousand youth.
