On Monday afternoon [22 April], it became clear that two further matters connected with the Israeli defense industry were awaiting a decision in the Defense Ministry. Both apply to equipment for military vehicles and involve Israeli technology, Navy Captain Per Hoiby of Defense Command Headquarters told Aftenposten. One matter concerns equipment for the NM220 command vehicle. The Defense Logistics Organization (FLO) wants to buy production rights for an equipment package from an Israeli firm. The other involves armor for the M113 transport vehicle, including mine protection seats. The participants in this project are Kvaerner and the state-owned Israeli defense producer Rafael. These prospective agreements are now at risk after Defense Minister Kristin Krohn Devold (Conservative) decided yesterday that she "did not want to buy defense materiel from Israel." The background for this announcement was a report in Dagbladet that Norway had recently bought ammunition from Israel, skriver Oslo Aftenposten.
