570 Arrested in A-Bomb Protests
A total of 228 people demonstrating against nuclear weapons were
arrested at the Nevada Test Site yesterday, and 320 others were
arrested after they tried to force a one-day shutdown of the Rocky
Flats nuclear weapons plant in Colorado. Twenty-two more protesters
were arrested after entering the Trident submarine base in Bangor,
Wash., in a third protest marking the 42d anniversary of the atomic
bomb attack on Nagasaki, Japan, at the end of World War II. From
300 to 400 protesters were met by more than 150
counterdemonstrators at the Nevada Test Site, in the desert, writes
