Fredsbånd rundt omkring det amerikanske forsvarsministerium, Pentagon.
/ Peace Ribbon around the Department of Defense, Pentagon.
In August 1985, on the 40th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, thousands of people stretched a ribbon of peace across the Pentagon, headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense. The "ribbon," pieced together from more than 20,000 homemade banners, extended for more than 10 miles. On the banners people had drawn, embroidered, painted, or woven images of things they couldn't bear to think of losing in a nuclear war.
