Cypern til Storbritannien.
Den cypriotiske konvention af 4 juni 1878 var en hemmelig aftale
mellem Det Forenede Kongerige og det Osmanniske Rige, som gav
kontrollen over Cypern til Storbritannien til gengæld for
deres støtte til osmannerne under
kongressen i Berlin. Denne aftale var resultatet af hemmelige
forhandlinger, der fandt sted tidligere i 1878.
/ Turkey sells Cyprus to Britain.
The Cyprus Convention of 4 June, 1878 was a secret agreement
reached between the United Kingdom and the Ottoman Empire which
granted control of Cyprus to Great Britain in exchange for their
support of the Ottomans during the Congress of Berlin. This
agreement was the result of secret negotiations that took place
earlier in 1878.

Preamble.
Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Ireland, Empress of India, and His Imperial Majesty the Sultan,
being mutually animated with the sincere desire of extending and
strengthening the relations of friendship happily existing between
their two Empires, have resolved upon the conclusion of a
Convention of Defensive Alliance with the object of securing for
the future the territories in Asia of His Imperial Majesty the
Sultan. Their Majesties have accordingly chosen and named as their
Plenipotentiaries, that is to say: Her Majesty the Queen of the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Empress of India, the
Right Honourable Austen Henry Layard, Her Majesty's Ambassador
Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at the Sublime Porte;
And His Imperial Majesty the Sultan, his Excellency Safvet Pasha,
Minister for Foreign Affairs of His Imperial Majesty; Who, after
having exchanged their full powers, found in due and good form,
have agreed upon the following Articles:
Engagement of Great Britain to join Turkey in event of Russia
retaining Batoum, Ardahan, or Kars, and making any attempt to take
further Territories in Asia...'

La Convención de Chipre de 04 de junio 1878 fue un acuerdo
secreto alcanzado entre el Reino Unido y el Imperio otomano, que
otorgó el control de Chipre a Gran Bretaña a cambio
de su apoyo a los otomanos en el Congreso de Berlín. Este
acuerdo fue el resultado de negociaciones secretas que tuvieron
lugar a principios de 1878.

Die Zypern-Abkommen vom 4. Juni 1878 war ein geheimes Abkommen
zwischen dem Vereinigten Königreich und dem Osmanischen Reich
die Kontrolle über Zypern nach Großbritannien im
Gegenzug gewährt für ihre Unterstützung der Osmanen
während des Kongresses von Berlin erreicht. Diese Vereinbarung
war das Ergebnis der geheimen Verhandlungen, die früher im
Jahr 1878 stattfand.
