63 The waters of Babylon

By the waters of Babylon
Where we sat down and there we wept
when we remembered Zion.
when the wicked carried us away in captivity
Required of us a song.

How could we sing our Holy song
In a strange land?
Let the words of my mouth
And the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in thy sight...

63 Your children are not yours

Your children are not your children
They are the sons and the daughters
of life's longing for itself

They come thrugh you but
They are not from you.
And though they are with
you they belong not to you.
You can give them your love
But not your thoughts
They have their own thoughts (X2)

You can house their bodies but
not their souls, For their souls
dwell in a place of tomorrow
Which you cannot visit, not even
in your dreams.

You can strive to be like them, but
You cannot make just like you
Strive to be like them
But you cannot make just like you.
